Among all types of bets, there are two large groups: single and combined. However, within the combined bets, there are several betting systems, among which the Yankee bet is included. Do you want to know what a Yankee bet consists of and what it is? Keep reading!

Definition of Yankee Bet

A Yankee bet is a combination betting system available after choosing at least 4 events , which will make a total of 11 sportsbook divided as follows:

  • 6 double bets (combined bet of 2 events)
  • 4 triple bets (combined bet of 3 events)
  • 1 quadruple bet (combined bet of 4 events)

Thus, matching two selections from the 4-event combination bet would be enough to make a profit.

How to Place a Yankee Bet

Making a Yankee bet is very easy. It is a type of bet available in practically all bookmakers, and will appear in the Betting Coupon after entering at least 4 bets or forecasts. We will find the Yankee bet at Bet365, Spin Palace, Wheelz, Versus, Bethard, and practically all New Zealand bookmakers.

All you have to do is select the bets and enter them in the coupon. Remember that they must be at least 4, from 4 different matches.

When adding the bets to the coupon, you will only have to select the “Yanki” or “Yankee” option and enter the amount, which will automatically multiply that amount x11 in the total bet. If for example we enter 10$, the total bet will be 110$ (10 $ x 11).

Example of a Yankee bet

The best way to understand the operation of this type of betting, is with practical and real case. Let's show a Yankee bet with example.

We selected 4 bets from 4 different matches:

  • Villarreal - Granada: Villarreal wins @1.53
  • Valencia - Osasuna: Valencia Wins @2.00
  • Eibar - Atletico Madrid: Atletico Wins @1.66
  • Alaves - Sevilla: Sevilla Wins @1.70

Making a Yankee bet, we'll be making a total of 11 bets , divided according to the above-mentioned scheme.

First of all, they will be made 6 double bets (two predictions):

  • Combined bet Wins Villarreal (@1.53) + Wins Valencia (@2.00) at total odds @3.06 (1.53 x 2.00)
  • Combined bet Wins Villarreal (@1.53) + Wins Atlético (@1.66) at total odds @2.53 (1.53 x 1.66)
  • Combined bet Wins Villarreal (@1.53) + Wins Sevilla (@1.70) at total odds @2.60 (1.53 x 1.70)
  • Combined bet Valencia Wins (@2.00) + Atlético Wins (@1.66) at total odds @3.32 (2.00 x 1.66)
  • Combined bet Valencia Wins (@2.00) + Sevilla Wins (@1.70) at total odds @3.40 (2.00 x 1.70)
  • Combined bet Atlético Wins (@1.66) + Sevilla Wins (@1.70) at total odds @2.82 (1.66 x 1.70)

Secondly, there will be 4 triple bets (three picks), covering all possible combinations as with double bets:

  • Combined bet Wins Villarreal (@1.53) + Wins Valencia (@2.00) + Wins Sevilla (1.70) at total odds @5.20 (1.53 x 2.00 x 1.70)
  • Combined bet Wins Villarreal (1.53) + Wins Valencia (@2.00) + Wins Atlético (1.66) at total odds @5.07 (1.53 x 2.00 x 1.66)
  • Combined bet Wins Villarreal (1.53) + Wins Sevilla (@1.70) + Wins Atlético (1.66) at total odds @4.31 (1.53 x 1.70 x 1.66)
  • Combined bet Valencia Wins (2.00) + Sevilla Wins (@1.70) + Atlético Wins (1.66) at total odds @5.64 (2.00 x 1.70 x 1.66)

And finally, a quadruple bet of all the events:

  • Combined bet Wins Villarreal (@1.53) + Wins Valencia (@2.00) + Wins Sevilla (1.70) + Wins Atlético (@1.66) at total odds @8.63 (1.53 x 2.00 x 1.70 x 1.66)

If correct, how is a Yankee bet paid out?

Now we are going to explain how a Yankee bet would be paid if 2, 3 or all 4 predictions were correct. First of all we must remember that the bet amount will be multiplied x11, since we will actually be making 11 bets as we have explained above. For example, if we bet $10, the total bet will be $110.

Following the previous example, let's imagine that Sevilla, Atletico and Villarreal win. But not Valencia.

In that case, we would hit the following bets:

  • Combined bet Wins Villarreal + Wins Atlético at odds @2.53 = 25.30$
  • Combined bet Win Villarreal + Win Sevilla at odds @2.60 = $26.00
  • Combined bet Atlético Wins + Sevilla Wins at odds @2.82 = $28.20
  • Combined bet Villarreal Wins + Sevilla Wins + Atlético Wins at odds @4.31 = $43.10

That is, using the Yankee bet calculator, we would get a total (gross) return of $122.60, making a net profit of 12.60$.

As you can see, Yankee bets can be very interesting to make combined bets, since they allow you to cover many options and minimize losses. In addition, there are numerous strategies and types of bets, such as the Super Yankee bet (5 selections and 26 total bets).
